The society's annual general meeting will be held at Saga on Saturday 6 December at 15:00.

The meeting was held at Edda – the House of Icelandic Studies on Saturday 18 November at 15:00.

The agenda covered the ordinary business of the annual meeting under articles 18–20 of the society's statutes. Afterwards Ásta Kristín Benediktsdóttir gave a talk on the modernist writer Jakobína Sigurðardóttir.

Jón Sigurðsson has stepped down as president of the society to take on other work. He had served as president since 2015 and the society thanks him for his leadership.

The board and the council elected Ármann Jakobsson as president; he had previously been vice-president. Björg Thorarensen was elected vice-president.

A publication reception was held on 14 December at 17:00 at Garðastræti 37, marking the society's output in its 200th anniversary year. Nineteen titles were published that year.
